What is a milk storage silo used for?
A milk storage silo holds raw or processed milk at controlled temperature between processing stages. Insulation maintains temperature and agitation prevents fat separation during storage. Why does a milk silo need insulation?
Milk must be held cold to control bacterial growth. Insulation limits heat gain from the surroundings, which reduces the chilling load needed to maintain temperature and protects product quality during holding periods.

Why does stored milk need agitation?
Milk fat separates and rises during standing. Gentle agitation keeps the fat evenly distributed, so that milk drawn from the silo has consistent composition rather than varying depending on when it is taken.
